Welcome to my website

This site was created as a result of my passion for Oliva shells. The main purpose of these pages is to share my ideas with other oliva collectors and my discoveries too. Here you will find articles and news but also the latest additions to my collection. Many olives in my collection will be shown in the photo gallery. In particular I would like to focus the visitors on the intraspecific variability within the same colony, thus showing groups of shells from a single population. It seem to me that the literature has never addressed this aspect of the olivas biology. Usually, in fact, the intraspecific variability is achieved by showing single specimens from different places. For example, Oliva bulbosa is famous for its variability in terms of pattern and color but a batch of 20 to 50 specimens from the same colony has rarely been seen. Further  on I will try to show the growth of the shell of many species. So I hope that visitors will find interesting things but at the same time I hope they will leave their comments. Note:  If you find any error in my english text let me know please, thank you

Notice to visitors

What you read in these pages are only my ideas. Given the wide taxonomic confusion around the Genus Oliva each Author has different ideas as you can see on their books. So I will be happy to read your comments on my thoughts in the guestbook.
